Dermal Fillers

Restore Your Youthful Facial Contours With
Dermal Fillers in Charleston at Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration

As we age, our skin thins and loses elasticity, dermal collagen degrades, fat shifts in compartments and migrates downward, and there is diminished bone volume. These structural changes result in volume loss in the face. One way we can combat this loss is with the use of dermal fillers. At our office in Charleston Dermal filler patients are injected in areas where there has been volume loss to subtly and naturally correct. More than one million men and women annually choose dermal filler injections as a cost-effective way to look younger without surgery or downtime. Our team at Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration warmly invites you to schedule a consultation to learn more about the amazing benefits of dermal fillers.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are synthetic or naturally-occurring substances that are injected into your face to restore youthful volume, vibrance and smoothness. These injections can improve and refresh your appearance without the downtime, risks and costs of surgery. At Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration, we want to enhance your natural beauty and restore lost volume, never creating an unnatural shape. We use only Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in all vertebrates. The chemical structure is the same in all species and tissues. Hyaluronic acid is of great importance to the skin, helping to maintain volume and elasticity within the skin.

Tell me more about the materials used in Dermal Fillers

Today’s most popular and effective fillers are made of a gelatinous substance called hyaluronic acid (HA), which your body produces naturally. HA is a critical component in keeping your skin properly hydrated and providing volume and smoothness to your face. The two most common (HA) filler brands we use at Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration are Juvederm and Restylane. There are several forms of both brands that have different indications. After discussing your concerns and careful evaluation of your face, your Charleston Dermal Filler providers at Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration will recommend the filler best suited for your needs.

Do Dermal Filler treatments for women differ from those for men?

Yes. Aging affects men and women in different ways, and our society generally views feminine facial attractiveness differently than it does masculine traits. Often, providers use a thicker and more viscous dermal filler for men than they do for women to account for men’s denser skin and larger bones.

What facial problems or issues can be treated by Dermal Fillers?

The most common areas treated with fillers include:

  • Nasolabial folds, the lines that extend from your nose to your lips
  • Marionette Lines from your mouth to your chin
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Creases around your lip corners
  • Cheeks/Midface
  • Indented scars

Are you a good candidate for dermal filler injections?

If your mid-to-lower face has lost volume, producing wrinkles and giving your face a fallen or sunken look, dermal fillers can be a safe and effective alternative to surgeries such as a facelift. Candidates for dermal filler injections should be in good overall health and, ideally, a non-smoker.

Finding the right provider

Picking the right provider is the most important decision you will make in pursuing dermal fillers in Charleston. Prescribing and administering these injections require training, experience, skill and an “eye for aesthetics.” We “check all the boxes” at Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration. Ask to see our “before and after” pictures of our previous dermal filler patients. We are proud of our patients and proud of our work!

Preparing for your dermal filler injections

Your chosen provider will carefully review your medical history. Tell your provider if you have any bleeding disorder or a history of severe allergic reactions to any substance. If you smoke, you will need to stop for a specified period before and after your dermal filler injections. You may also be directed to suspend use of any supplements or medications (such as aspirin) that can promote bleeding. We recommend these things because we strive to offer the best Dermal Fillers Charleston has to offer!

Recovery

You can go right back to your normal activities immediately following your procedure! Just postpone strenuous activity for the rest of the day. That’s it. Apply ice to your face to reduce any bruising or swelling.

Results

Your results should be immediately noticeable and can last for up to 18 months.

Your dermal filler injection procedure

Dermal filler injections are an outpatient procedure, usually performed in your provider’s office. The only anesthesia you will need is some numbing cream that will be applied to your face. Your provider will then make a series of small injections to place the filler material into your targeted treatment areas. Most dermal filler treatments take only 15-20 minutes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there risks or side effects associated with dermal filler injections?

The most serious risk is unintentional injection into a blood vessel, underscoring the importance of insisting on a highly trained and experienced provider to administer your injections. Other risks include infection and tissue death. Common side effects are temporary bruising, swelling, and tenderness.

Do the injections hurt?

Almost all patients report minimal discomfort, much like a small pinch. Your provider will apply numbing cream to your face before your injections. Many filler products also contain lidocaine, a mild anesthetic that helps minimize discomfort before and after your treatment. Any additional post-procedure soreness can be controlled with ice.

Will my insurance pay for my dermal filler injections?

Since dermal filler injections are a cosmetic procedure, your insurance will not pay for them.

Then what are the costs?

Costs will vary according to the number and types of fillers used and the extent of your treatment. Have a full conversation with your provider before treatment.
