PRP FOR Vaginal Rejuvenation
Sexual dysfunction is extremely common among women and can occur at any phase in the sexual response cycle: desire, arousal, orgasm, or resolution. In the US, approximately 40 percent of women have sexual concerns and 12 percent report distressing sexual problems. Common problems include lack of desire, impaired arousal, inability to achieve orgasm, pain with sexual activity, or a combination of these issues.
Female sexual dysfunction is a topic that is often avoided or dismissed by health care providers. Sometimes providers do not feel comfortable with the subject, but most often this is a result of limited treatment options. Finally, with the use of PRP, we have a way to improve all phases of the sexual response cycle with one safe and effective treatment.
The Process
The patient’s blood is drawn and spun down using a specialized piece of equipment called a centrifuge to separate the red and white blood cells from the portion of the blood rich in platelets.
This plasma which is now concentrated 5-7 times the platelets in whole blood, is then activated with calcium, and injected into a specific area in the vagina and clitoris. This activation of the platelets causes the release of 8 different growth factors which help regenerate tissue and bring new blood flow to the area. Prior to the injection, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area making the procedure virtually painless. There is little to no downtime following the procedure and because we are using your own blood, is extremely safe.

Expectations
Following the procedure most patients will start to see results in 4-6 weeks, but may see further improvement for up to 4 months as the tissue continues to regenerate. Benefits last up to a year or even longer in some patients.
Reported benefits include a tighter vaginal introitus, increased libido, increased ability to achieve orgasm, ability to have vaginal orgasms, stronger and more frequent orgasms, increased vaginal lubrication, younger smoother skin of the vulva, improvement in lichen sclerosis, and decreased urinary incontinence.
