Smooth Out Those Wrinkles!

Botox Injections at Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration

Botox is an FDA-approved cosmetic injectable used to temporarily improve the look of facial wrinkles and restore a youthful, refreshed quality to the face. Getting the desired results from Botox treatments requires a knowledgeable injector with a precise understanding of facial muscle anatomy to tailor treatments to each individual's unique facial expressions.

What is Botox?

Botox is a high performing wrinkle reducer with visible results. While these treatments were initially used by women, a rapidly growing number of men are now discovering the benefits of Botox. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked Botox Cosmetic as the most popular medically administered aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year in a row (surgical and nonsurgical combined).

How does Botox work?

Facial wrinkles develop over time from repeated contraction of facial muscles. Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to those muscles, preventing contractions, and reducing or eliminating lines and wrinkles. Known as a neuromodulator, Botox is derived from botulism bacteria. Botox is safe, FDA-approved, and highly effective in blocking selected nerves from receiving selected chemical signals.

What are the benefits of Botox injections?

Botox can relax your facial lines and wrinkles, giving you a smoother, more youthful, and more approachable look. Botox is particularly effective in treating the deep frown lines between your eyebrows, as well as crow’s feet, forehead furrows, laugh lines, the wrinkles at the corners of your mouth, and a “pebbly” chin. Optimal results are achieved when each patient is treated like the unique individual they are. At Ageless Medical Spa and Hair Restoration, we strive for a fresh, natural look.

Botox benefits can also include:

  • Relaxes the Appearance of Existing Wrinkles
  • Softens Fine Lines
  • Diminishes Crow's Feet
  • Smoothes forehead lines
  • Limits neck banding
  • Visible results in a few days with no down time
  • Fast and affordable

Are the results of Botox injections permanent?

Over time the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling or raising your eyebrows cause skin to fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines and wrinkles. Botox works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle contractions for three to four months. This smooths the skin above the muscles and visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Treatment will need to be periodically repeated to optimize and maintain benefits.

Are you a good candidate for Botox injections?

In general, you are a good candidate for Botox if you are a woman or man who wants to reduce or eliminate facial lines and wrinkles. You may be disqualified from receiving Botox injections if you have conditions such as:

  • A breathing disorder
  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • A bleeding disorder

What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport?

They are very similar but there are some differences that can make a difference for some individuals.

Botox and Dysport are both neurotoxins that force the muscle to relax. They both have the same active ingredient Botulinum that interferes with how your muscles contract. The Botulinum attaches to the ACH receptor sites in your facial muscle cells preventing them from contracting and forcing them to fully relax. This fully relaxed state, or flaccid state of the muscle has the side effect of smoothing out the wrinkles and fine lines of your face.

They are made by 2 different companies and have slightly different concentrations of liquid to Botulinum. Botox is more of a 1 water to 1 Botulinum concentration and Dysport is a 3 to 1 concentration.

So theoretically because of the concentration and spread rate.

Botox, because of its higher concentration would be a better choice for lips, crows feet and other fine lines. Dysport because of its lower concentration would be better for larger areas like the forehead and 11 lines.

In practice most people respond really well to both. But some people really respond better to one or the other. So depending on the patient and their unique situation one might be a better option to the other, but that will be discussed at your free consultation. Consultations generally take about 10 to 15 minutes, and are more effective in person but can be done over facetime.

How much is a unit?

Botox and Dysport are typically sold by the unit.

A unit of Botox is .1 ml and we charge $13 a unit for non members and $11 a unit for members.

A unit of Dysport is .1 ml and we charge $4 a unit. But since Dysport is not as concentrated as Botox you have to use 3 times as much to get the same amount of active ingredient so it works out to be about $12 a unit when you compare it directly to Botox.

Can I use Dysport if I've had Botox?

Yes, and in some cases it is even recommended depending on the patient. Some patients can develop resistance to Botox or Dysport, so rotating them for some patients can been really helpful.

Why does some botox look so bad?

Any provider can make a mistake but it really comes down to skill, knowledge and communication. If you are missing any of those 3 qualities you could get a bad patient outcome. The injector needs to understand what the patient wants, their expectations, goals and what's going on with their physiology. When you combine those things you are much more likely to get a great patient outcome. We really pride ourselves on caring about our patients as people and getting them a great outcome each and every time.

If you are considering Botox or Dysport and would like free consultation in person or over face time with one or our Nurses or PA's to see if that would be a good choice for you please call (843) 410-0597. You can also email us at [email protected]

Are there risks?

Botox is meticulously tested to reduce any chance of contamination, but any injection carries a small risk of infection.
