Smooth and unlined facial skin reflects youthful confidence and attractiveness. As we age, time, gravity, genetics, excessive sun exposure, and lifestyle choices can produce facial lines and wrinkles that make us look older than we feel and damage our self-confidence. Surrender is not an option! Millions of Americans have found that Botox injections are a safe, convenient, and affordable way to reduce and eliminate wrinkles. Our staff of teammates at Ageless Rx are experts in Botox treatments. We strive for a fresh, natural look and will treat every patient as a valued, respected, and unique individual. We invite you to schedule your Charleston Botox consultation at Ageless Rx to learn more about the wonderful benefits.
Botox is a high performing wrinkle reducer with visible results. While these treatments were initially used by women, a rapidly growing number of men are now discovering the benefits of Botox. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked Botox Cosmetic as the most popular medically administered aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year in a row (surgical and nonsurgical combined).
Facial wrinkles develop over time from repeated contraction of facial muscles. Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to those muscles, preventing contractions, and reducing or eliminating lines and wrinkles. Known as a neuromodulator, Botox is derived from botulism bacteria. Botox is safe, FDA-approved, and highly effective in blocking selected nerves from receiving selected chemical signals.
Botox can relax your facial lines and wrinkles, giving you a smoother, more youthful, and more approachable look. Botox is particularly effective in treating the deep frown lines between your eyebrows, as well as crow’s feet, forehead furrows, laugh lines, the wrinkles at the corners of your mouth, and a “pebbly” chin. Optimal results are achieved when each patient is treated like the unique individual they are. At Ageless Rx, we strive for a fresh, natural look.
Over time the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling or raising your eyebrows cause skin to fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines and wrinkles. Botox works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle contractions for three to four months. This smooths the skin above the muscles and visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Treatment will need to be periodically repeated to optimize and maintain benefits.
In general, you are a good candidate for Botox if you are a woman or man who wants to reduce or eliminate facial lines and wrinkles. You may be disqualified from receiving Botox injections if you have conditions such as:
They are very similar but there are some differences that can make a difference for some individuals.
They are both neurotoxins that force the muscle to relax. They both have the same active ingredient Botulinum that interferes with how your muscles contract. The Botulinum attaches to the ACH receptor sites in your facial muscle cells preventing them from contracting and forcing them to fully relax. This fully relaxed state, or flaccid state of the muscle has the side effect of smoothing out the wrinkles and fine lines of your face.
They are made by 2 different companies and have slightly different concentrations of liquid to Botulinum. Botox is more of a 1 water to 1 Botulinum concentration and Dysport is a 3 to 1 concentration.
So theoretically because of the concentration and spread rate.
Botox because of its higher concentration would be a better choice for lips, crows feet and other fine lines. Dysport because of its lower concentration would be better for larger areas like the forehead and 11 lines.
In practice most people respond really well to both. But some people really respond better to one or the other. So depending on the patient and their unique situation one might be a better option to the other, but that will be discussed at your free consultation. Consultations generally take about 10 to 15 minutes, and are more effective in person but can be done over facetime.
Botox and Dysport are typically sold by the unit.
A unit of Botox is .1 ml and we charge $13 a unit for non members and $11 a unit for members.
A unit of Dysport is .1 ml and we charge $4 a unit. But since Dysport is not as concentrated as Botox you have to use 3 times as much to get the same amount of active ingredient so it works out to be about $12 a unit when you compare it directly to Botox.
Yes, and in some cases it is even recommended depending on the patient. Some patients can develop resistance to Botox or Dysport, so rotating them for some patients can been really helpful.
Any provider can make a mistake but it really comes down to skill, knowledge and communication. If you are missing any of those 3 qualities you could get a bad patient outcome. The injector needs to understand what the patient wants, their expectations, goals and what's going on with their physiology. When you combine those things you are much more likely to get a great patient outcome. We really pride ourselves on caring about our patients as people and getting them a great outcome each and every time.
If you are considering Botox or Dysport and would like free consultation in person or over face time with one or our Nurses or PA's to see if that would be a good choice for you please call (843) 410-0597. You can also email us at [email protected]
Botox is a “technique-sensitive treatment,” meaning that its effectiveness and safety are dependent on the skill, training, and experience of your Botox injection expert. At Ageless Rx, we can check all of those boxes! When receiving Botox Charleston patients will all be injected by the same person, Ashley. If you are cleared for Botox injections, you’ll need to provide your full medical history and let your provider know if you have received previous Botox treatment. The following steps can be taken in preparation for your Charleston Botox treatment at Ageless RX:
Make sure you have arranged for someone to drive you home after your Botox treatment. It’s important to remember not to rub your treated areas for at least 24 hours. Avoid any strenuous or hazardous activity until you know how this medication affects you.
Tell your doctor immediately if you experience severe muscle weakness or trouble breathing or swallowing. Additionally, the following aftercare can aid in a smooth recovery to being wrinkle free:
Your injections typically will be performed in your provider’s office. Using a thin needle, your injector will precisely place small amounts of Botox into targeted areas of your facial skin. Multiple areas can be treated in a single session.
You should start to see results within three days. As your muscles relax and become immobilized, you will notice reduction or elimination of wrinkles and a smoothing and relaxing effect on your face. To maintain your results, you will need regular follow-up injections, separated by at least three months.
At Ageless Rx, we offer everything you need to achieve the look you want without the need for expensive, invasive plastic surgery or other intensive treatments. If you want to look younger, more vibrant and more attractive, a Charleston Botox treatment might be for you. Let’s talk! (843) 410-0597 or [email protected].
Botox is the world’s most widely researched anti-line and wrinkle treatment. It has been approved for use in 95 countries. Results of safety and efficacy research have been published in more than 500 peer-reviewed articles in medical and scientific journals.
Botox is meticulously tested to reduce any chance of contamination, but any injection carries a small risk of infection. Rarely, complications have been reported if Botox spreads to unintended and un-targeted body areas. Side effects may include muscle weakness, hives, facial or throat swelling and flu-like symptoms. Advise your provider if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not established whether Botox can affect an unborn baby or a mother’s breast milk.
The injections typically feel like a small “pinch.” Your medical professional can also apply ice or a numbing agent to your face prior to your injections.
Not if your treatments are performed by a licensed, trained medical professional. No one should be able to tell anything other than how good you look!
No, in fact, in the last three years alone, men have received more than one million treatments and report excellent results and high levels of satisfaction.
Not at all. The criterion is not your age. It’s the severity of your lines and wrinkles. A growing number of women and men in their 30s are pursuing Botox treatments.
Not if the treatment is administered solely for cosmetic reasons. The cost of your treatment will vary from patient to patient, depending on the number and location of the injections you receive. Have a full and frank conversation with your provider prior to your Botox injections.
