PRP Facelift (with or without dermal fillers)
The PRP Facelift is a cutting-edge procedure developed to restore, shape AND improve skin tone and texture. This is done using PRP (about PRP) with or without hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvaderm or Restylane. Unlike a surgical facelift, which simply pulls the skin tighter, the PRP facelift actually changes the dermis and subcutaneous layer on a cellular level.
The patient is injected with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers (If desired) to create a beautiful shape. Factoring in the mathematics of beauty to avoid an unnatural shape is essential to this process.
The patient’s blood is drawn and processed in a way that allows the provider to isolate the PRP or platelet rich plasma. The platelets are activated to release potent growth factors that would normally be used to heal injured tissue.
These growth factors are injected into the face which activates multi-potent stem cells to grow new tissue including new collagen, fatty tissue (for smoothness), and new blood vessels (for a healthy glow)
PRP alone will improve lost volume in the face and improve skin color, texture and firmness and should markedly reduce the need for other maintenance procedures such as cosmetic filler injections. The benefits of PRP will be seen over a period of 2-3 months and last for 1-2 years or longer depending on the individual.
The benefit of adding dermal fillers to the procedure is 2-fold: Improvement in volume will be seen immediately as opposed to waiting the 2-3 months with the PRP alone, and hyaluronic acid filler acts as a scaffolding for the PRP to build on enhancing the long-term benefits of PRP.
Downtime following the procedure is minimal. Redness and swelling immediately following the procedure are expected and will be largely resolved by the following morning. There may be minimal residual swelling the following day, typically not noticeable to others. Bruising may occur with any injection and will usually resolve within 1-2 weeks.
We take great care to limit bruising, but it is never 100% avoidable. Please see our section on before and after care for tips on how to reduce chances of bruising.
